Atomic Aggies Have Rocket Fever

Aryanna Llanez, Lead Engineer - Atomic Aggies

The “smoke and fire,” noise, high speeds, and sleek aerodynamics of rocketry encourage students to pursue science, technology, and mathematics-based careers. They have “Rocket Fever!”, and competition motivates them to extend themselves beyond the classroom to design and build the rockets themselves. These students also learn to work as a team, solving real world problems under the same pressures they’ll experience in their future careers. Today, we will be bringing our competition rocket from last year. It sits at almost 12 feet tall, reaches over 10,000 ft. altitude and was built here by students at NMSU with raw Carbon Fiber and Fiber Glass composites.

Section 504 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. Section 504 provides: “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall… solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance…” This presentation will help you to determine if your organization complies with these two directives.
